Every human action has an effect upon our physical environment. The following responses are indivdual opinions about the impact planting artificial evergreen trees has on the environment.

Rhonda has the right idea. I like the term Treecycle instead of recycle. Finding a new use for an old thing is always good.

Planting artificial trees in our yards here in Albuquerque would definitely help reduce the amount of water we use and it would feel better on our wallets.
7,000 Evergreens says: Yes it's true, water is not required for the survivial of an artificial evergreen tree. Water is limiteda and with continued drought in the Southwestern United States, water promises to be the most sought after and potentially fought over resource in the near future.

Like telephone poles and other manmade objects in the landscape, every artificial evergreen tree planted outdoors becomes a new habitat for a variety of species.

Your carbon footprint is a calculated number representing the size of a mark you leave on the earth by the carbon emissions you create each year through electricity use, heating, travel, etc. The more you fly, the more you drive a gasoline powered vehicle, and the more electricity you use, the larger your carbon footprint.
The average carbon footprint for an American household is 19 metric tons according to British Petroleum. That's a lot of metric tons.
Carbon emissions and other greenhouse gases are the scientifically proven cause of global warming. When carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases are released into the atmosphere, they trap the sun's heat, causing the world’s temperatures to rise over time, a process known as global warming, with potentially disastrous results.
You can help stop global warming by offsetting your carbon footprint. The primary way to offset your carbon footprint is by purchasing carbon offset credits from emissions reduction projects. Emissions reductions projects do things like plant trees that sequester carbon gases in the atmosphere.
When we reuse artificial evergreen trees by planting them outdoors, we help offset your carbon footprint by saving these trees from incineration or the landfill.
7,000 Evergreens says: Thanks for making this point Samantha. While planting an artificial evergreen tree isn't as good at offsetting your carbon footprint as planting a real tree in terms of net atmospheric carbon dioxide sequestered during the lifetime of the tree, as long as the artificial tree is not burned, the carbon that has been sequestered in the physical form of the artificial tree keeps additional fossil fuel based carbon out of our atmostphere.

Remember the old saying, REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE. The artificial evergreen trees that 7,000 Evergreens plant cannot be recycled without producing poison gases. And they can't simply vanish into thin air (reduced) if they have already been manufactured, so why not REUSE them?
